Green Energy

Are Windmills the magic bullet?

They’re great when they work, but when they fail, they fail spectacularly. Germany, one of wind energy’s early adopters, is already seeing stress fractures and blade failures amongst it’s windmills. Replacement cost for these isn’t cheap either.  It’s a problem inherent with moving parts: they lead to failure.  Wind turbines are new technology, and as such, are prone to more failure than tried and true (and perfected) coal fired or hydroelectric turbines.
