This weekend was a good weekend. I got my Concealed Handgun License renewal in the mail Saturday, shortly before finding out that my scooter was out of the shop and ready for cruising.
Texas has been running behind on CHL renewals. I submitted my renewal paperwork back in November, and received my new license on March 21st. That’s nearly 16 weeks, when the turnaround is supposed to be 6 weeks by law. That’s no surprise really, as Texas (along with every other shall issue state) has experienced record numbers of CHL applications since November. I just had the bad luck of needing to renew my license around the same time that the Messiah was elected.
Betty, my scooter, is running MUCH better after having the carbs synched and the valves adjusted. I dressed up some wiring that had been hanging loose off the frame. Now, she just needs a new paint job on the fuel tank and plastic.
I got some cruising in today and tested out my new summer carry rig with my P3AT. Not that a P3AT is difficult to conceal, I just wanted to see how comfortable my rig is while riding the scoot. No problems there. It’s small enough, and more importantly flat enough to keep in a jeans pocket while riding.
I know some people will give me heck about the P3AT as a carry piece, but it’s small, concealable, and most importantly comfortable. One thing CHL holders know is that comfort is important. If it’s not comfortable, you’ll stop wearing it, and if you’re not wearing it, what’s the point of having a CHL?
