Liberty’s One Year Update

by Azreel | July 4th, 2011

One year ago today, this little girl wound her way into our life. It was late on the 4th of July in 2010 and I had stepped outside to grab something from my vehicle when I found her, cowering, terrified, and covered in mud, fleas, ticks, and worse.

Since then, in large part thanks to the generous donations of many people, most of whom are readers of my periodic ramblings, we managed to pay the vet bills and get her healthy and readjusted to human companionship.

First of all, we and Liberty owe all of you who helped (financially and otherwise) a HUGE thank you. She had a death sentence, heart worm, and enormous vet bills that came with the treatment of that malady in addition to a number of other problems from living a life of abuse and neglect before she found her way to us.

And with that help, she’s made a complete recovery.

She’s still shy. She doesn’t care for loud and boisterous people, particularly men, but she is quite the cuddle bug. Her favorite place to be is curled up on the couch next to myself, the wife, or really anyone who will sit still and give her ear scritches.
